We are recruiting for an experienced NACE Level 2 Painter / Coating Inspector to join a busy manufacturing and fabrication business. This is a dual-role position where you will take the lead on coating inspection and quality control, while also remaining hands-on with industrial painting when required.
You must hold a valid AMPP Level 2 Coating Inspector certification (formerly NACE International), enabling you to independently inspect and sign off coating works.
Working within a structural steel and fabrication environment, you will be responsible for ensuring all coating and painting activities meet client specifications, industry standards and internal QA procedures.
Inspect surface preparation including blast profiles, cleanliness standards and contamination checks
Verify environmental conditions (dew point, humidity, steel temperature) prior to and during coating
Witness and inspect coating application processes
Measure wet film thickness (WFT) and dry film thickness (DFT)
Identify defects, non-conformances and ensure corrective actions are completed
Review coating specifications and ITPs
Complete detailed QA/QC reports and maintain inspection records
Liaise with production, fabrication and management teams regarding quality compliance
Independently sign off completed coating works
Carry out industrial painting of fabricated steelwork
Operate airless spray equipment and apply 2-pack and specialist coating systems
Undertake surface preparation including mechanical prep and masking
Support production schedules to ensure projects are completed on time
Valid AMPP / NACE Level 2 Coating Inspector certification
Proven industrial painting experience (essential)
Comfortable working in a dual inspection and hands-on role
Strong understanding of coating systems and surface preparation standards
Confident working independently and completing formal QA documentation
